Despite the weather, the biggest party in town is wrapping up Friday night. The Krewe of Centaur says the rain won’t stop them from having a good time and they’re ready to “rock” for tomorrow.
Misty weather still brings out the Mardi Gras revelers for the Krewe of Centaur’s float loading party where families can get a close up look at the floats that will roll through Shreveport Saturday.
“If the weather is too bad early in the morning when we move the floats down we might bump it alittle later but we’re still going to move them down to the staging area in front of Riverview Hall and we’ll be set up. It just might not be as early, but we’ll still roll at 4:30 p.m.” said Emily Pitts, Krewe of Centaur public relations.
The Krewe plans for sunny skies but can handle alittle downpour. With more than 30 floats, decked out and designed, with this year’s theme called Centaur Rocks! It will feature all things Rock-N-Roll from the 80s’, 90s’ and 2000s’. Including a British Invasion float and Elton John comes to Mardi Gras.
“It’s just fun and family-friendly,” Pitts said.
They say get ready to rock and bring an umbrella just in case, as it’s already a Mardi Gras accessory for many paraders.
“Don’t worry about the weather. We’re going to have a good time,” said Chris Brown, King of Centaur Parade.
And get ready to grab those beads.
The Krewe of Centaur parade starts Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and rolls down Clyde Phant Parkway. This year’s Grand Marshall is Shreveport native and country musician Jordan Davis.
