Late-morning shooting in north Shreveport

Shreveport police are investigating a shooting that occurred late this morning in the MLK area.

Levi Johnson was shot in the arm as he was driving a vehicle with several passengers on the corner of David Raines Road and Skelly Street. 

SPD officers and Shreveport Fire Department emergency personnel were dispatched to David Raines Road at 11:15 this morning in response to the shooting. 

A group of younger men drove their vehicle up next to the Johnson’s vehicle and shot at the men inside Johnson’s vehicle, hitting Johnson.  

Police have identified the suspect, but he is not in custody as yet.

The investigation remains open, and anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call CrimeStoppers. 

Reporter Alexandria Meachum was at the scene this morning and will bring details on NBC6/FOX33 News this evening. 

The suspect fled, and now is subject to a manhunt in the area.

The victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. NBC6/FOX33 has a crew on the scene and will bring details as they become available.
