A class-action lawsuit alleging the City of Shreveport overbilled commercial customers of water and sewage millions of dollars was filed today in Caddo District Court.

The Haven Property Owners Association and BW Partners doing business as Briarwood Apartments claim the city can legally levy state sales taxes only on quantity of water used, but also charged them on other components.

The lawsuit further states the city did not report the falsely collected sales taxes and instead kept them. We reached out to the city, but have not heard back as yet.
