A furniture store that has been serving Shreveport and the surrounding areas for 68 years is going out of business.

Sun Furniture announced Tuesday that the store is closing due to the owner’s retirement.

In 1950 by H. Leo Greengus founded Sun Furniture just one block from the store’s current 20,000-square-foot location.

The company has been family-owned and operated for its entire history and is currently led by Randy Greengus, son of H. Leo and Shirley Greengus.

Sun Furniture’s spacious showroom is filled with a wide variety of home furnishings. By keeping its overhead low, the store is able offer very low prices and quick delivery.

Randy Greengus said, “We’re not fancy on the outside — that’s why we save you money on the inside.” Our location is easy to find, just seconds from I-20 and I-49 on Texas Avenue with plenty of free parking.”

A going-out-of-business sale will take place Thursday, Jan. 18 at the store on 1253 Texas Ave.

Greengus said, “This sale event offers customers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to buy brand name furniture at going-out-of-business prices. We look forward to seeing many old friends during the sale.”

Everything in the store will be sold before the closing. Sun Furniture features furniture and bedding products from well-known brands such as Affordable, Ashley, BedTech, Crownmark, Englander, Fusion, Symbol and United.

Greengus said, “We suggest shoppers come in early for the best selection.”
