Local library branch and the food bank partner to feed community kids

The Shreve Memorial Library and food bank of Northwest Louisiana partner to make sure children don’t go hungry this summer.

The Wallette Branch has fed more than 50 children since the program started on June first.

The library branch is not only feeding children they are involving them in educational programs like STEAM Camp for kids that focuses on Science,Technology, Engineering, Art and Math.

Samantha Bonnette, Marketing and Development manager for the Shreve Memorial Libraries says,”when the kids are not in school they are not getting that lunch, necessarily that we just assume that they are getting, so for the libraries to provide this service it’s to make sure our children do not go hungry and that they are getting a nutritious meal at some point in the day, even if that just for lunch.”

There are 13 library branches hosting the feeding program and the steam camp.
