Local non-profit files taxes for free

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – The end of tax season is just around the corner and one non-profit organization is filing taxes for free.

United Way of Northwest Louisiana is giving back to the community by preparing tax returns.

Anyone who made $55,000 or less qualified for free service. The non-profit also partnered with banks to open accounts.
“On average and this is just a low number. Someone can pay anywhere from two-hundred dollars on up to just to get their taxes prepared. However, with this service you’re able to save that money,” said Rashida Dawson, United Way NW Louisiana.

Last year, United Way prepared over 6,200 tax returns in Northwest Louisiana.
