Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards say he’ll keep the National Guard air support team on the Texas border.

Louisiana sent a three-person National Guard team and one helicopter to the border in May.

Edwards says the team isn’t playing a role with the Trump administration in separating immigrant families.

“This crew plays no role, direct or indirect, in the ill-conceived policy of separating families” said Edwards.

“I, like many people, am deeply disturbed by the unnecessary and abhorrent policy of separating children from their families. It is an unconscionable practice that is inconsistent with our fundamental values as Americans. I urge Congress and the President to act quickly to end this crisis” said Edwards.

President Trump has said he’ll an order that would keep families together at the border, halting a policy he instituted earlier this year.
