The Louisiana Board of Medical Examiners made significant changes to the medical marijuana program.

WDSU reports that in an 8-to-1 vote, the board eliminated the patient cap, previously set at 100 patients.

That vote opens up medical marijuana treatment in Louisiana to an unlimited number of patients seeking treatment for approved disorders.

In a 5-to-4 vote, the board removed the 90-day follow up requirement that had mandated patients return to see their physicians three months after receiving the medication.
