Two downtown Texarkana businesses received big boosts from Main Street Texarkana on Tuesday.
The owners of the old Wellworth building on Broad Street received five thousand dollars for a new roof on the building.
Johnny B’s restaurant received two thousand dollars for a new sign. Owner Sheila Crossland said the city and Main Street officials were essential to her decision to open downtown. Crossland said, “We put the sign off for quite some time because, you know, we just had to get open and recoup a little bit and Main Street has been just absolutely awesome in helping us do all that.”
The grants are awarded as reimbursements, so improvements have already been made on the downtown buildings.
