Authorities have made an arrest in the Monday night shootings that killed two and hospitalized another.
Tony Waters, 55, of Kilgore, has been arrested and charged with capital murder, according to a release from TPD.
Police responded Monday around 0 p.m. to reports of shots fired in the 1300 block of West Dobbs Street.
They found one victim, identified as Charlie Verdell, 51, of Tyler, lying on the front porch with a gunshot wound. A woman, identified as Ladidre Patrice Blevins, 51, of Tyler, who also had a gunshot wound, was found inside the house. Both victims were taken to a local hospital by ambulance.
Officers found another man, identified as Daquan Munson, 17, of Tyler, inside the residence, dead from an apparent gunshot wound in another room of the residence. He was identified as the son of Blevins and was a student at Robert E. Lee High School in Tyler.
Police say Verdell was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Blevins condition is not being released at this time.
A witness says following the shooting, they saw a black man running from the scene with a gun in his hand.
The Longview Police Department’s Special Investigation and Apprehension Unit along with the U.S. Marshals Violent Crime Task Force located the suspect in Longview, Texas today and took him into custody. Waters was transported to the Gregg County Jail on the Capital Murder warrant obtained by investigators with the Tyler Police Department.
Judge Kennedy issued the warrant and set bond at $1,000,000. Investigators are still looking into the motive behind the shooting.
This case remains under investigation.
