Man charged with murder in East Texas shootings found hanging in cell

The man charged with capital murder in the East Texas shootings that killed two and injured one was found hanging in his jail cell.

Tony Waters, 55, of Kilgore was arrested Tuesday in Longview for the shootings, which killed  Charlie Verdell, 51, and Daquan Munson, 17, both of Tyler.

Ladidre Patrice Blevins, 51, of Tyler was injured. Munson was her son.

Waters was in the Gregg County Jail on a Smith County warrant for capital murder.

Jail facility staff was making the rounds Wednesday evening and found Waters inside his cell suspended by his neck with clothing fashioned into a makeshift rope.
