A single vehicle crash claimed the life of a man early this morning near downtown Shreveport.
On February 20, 2018 just before 3:00 am, Shreveport Police responded to reports of a major crash in the 600 block of Fairfield Avenue. Members of the Shreveport Fire Department pronounced the man deceased on scene.
Investigators with Shreveport Police Department’s Crash Investigations Unit responded to the scene and began their investigation. Preliminary examination of the roadway evidence suggested that the driver was traveling west at a high rate of speed and entered the intersection of Fairfield Avenue and Louisiana Avenue where his vehicle entered onto the median and then struck a concrete support pillar. Investigators cite speed and alcohol as factors in the crash.
