Man who shot at police last month now in custody

The man suspected of firing a weapon at Shreveport Police officers last month is now in police custody following his arrest Thursday afternoon.

Just after 2:00 p.m., on July 12, 2018, authorities from the Shreveport Police Department, United States Marshal’s Office along with members from the Caddo-Shreveport Narcotics Task Force,  arrived at the Centrum Apartments located in the 2700 block of Waggoner Avenue relative to serving an arrest warrant.  Authorities were in search of 20 year old Isaiah J. Martin, who was identified as the suspected gunman who fired at Shreveport Police officers following a traffic stop on June 30, 2018.  Police had received information Suggesting Martin had been hiding out in an apartment there.

On officers arrival at the apartment complex entry was made to an upstairs apartment where police located Martin who attempted to flee from the apartment’s second floor window.  Martin was promptly taken into police custody along with a second man identified as 19 year old Kenneth Mitchell.  Mitchell faces charges of accessory after the fact to attempted first degree murder.  Martin, who was charged with attempted first degree murder, was transported to University Health hospital for injuries he sustained on the date of the shooting.  No other injuries were reported.
