The Marshall Police Department is warning residents of a scam they say is making a comeback.

It’s called the ‘One Ring’ scam.

Police say you’ll receive a call from an unknown number with a local area code but the call only rings once, hanging up before you can accept the call.

If you do call the number back, it goes to an international hotline number, which begins charging high fees just for connecting the call. If the phone user calls multiple times or stays on the line long, the fees go up.

Marshall Police say if you don’t recognize the number, don’t call back.
