Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump is retiring.

Crump, who has more than 26 years of service with the Shreveport Police Department, became the Interim Chief in July of 2016. He was later named to the permanent position. Crump will retire effective November 15, 2018.

“We appreciate Chief Crump’s service in protecting the citizens of our community and we wish him well in his retirement,” said Mayor Ollie Tyler. “The appointment of a new chief is of critical importance in ensuring the safety and well-being of our citizens and visitors. We are moving forward with due diligence in the selection of the City of Shreveport’s next police chief.”

Mayor Tyler will decide upon an Interim Chief next week. A search will be conducted to find a new Police Chief. The Interim Chief will initially be appointed for 90 days.
