Air quality is at the center of complaints from neighbors living on Midway Avenue. They claim a construction company is behind the problem. R2 Construction Services LLC operates a facility that crushes concrete.
Cynthia Circu said it’s affecting her health. “I’ve developed bronchitis and it’s simply from breathing all of this stuff.”
Rolando Robleto says his home is being affected. He claims cracks in his home are from the vibration of the machines. “I’m not trying to put them out of business. I just wanted them to move somewhere’s else,“ said Robleto.
The owner of the company is aware of the neighbor’s complaints. He said he’s abiding by all city and state laws. “DEQ (The Department of Environmental Quality) came out because of a call they had and found that I was in compliance,“ said Romana Dillard. He also said he’s taken further action with the city to decrease the amount of dust in the area. “I had them turn on another water valve to increase the amount of water that I can apply on the property.“
We asked Kristi Bell, another neighbor if she had any complaints.
“It really doesn’t bother me at all because when they come in the inside you really can’t even hear, and the latest they’ll go is five o clock,“ said Bell. But that’s not good enough for Circu. “Something needs to happen,“ said Circu.
Robleto met with a lawyer to see what type of legal actions he can take.
