A man wanted for 2nd Degree Murder in the death of a Natchitoches hairdresser was found dead Friday evening, just hours after the warrant was issued in Natchitoches Parish.
Michael Paul Medina, 49, was found dead at his Hessmer, La., home Friday evening, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office. The Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed Medina’s death from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Medina was wanted in the death of Vicky Sanders of Natchotoches, who was found dead inside her home in the 200 block of Patrick Road in Point Place south of Natchitoches late Friday morning.
Sanders, well known in the Natchitoches community, was a hair stylist and owned and operated The Works Salon in Natchitoches.
Medina was developed as a suspect, and a warrant for his arrest was issued by the 10th Judicial District Court in Natchitoches, prompting a day-long search involving multiple Central Louisiana law enforcement agencies, according to Natchitoches Parish Sheriff Victor Jones.
APSO deputies and Louisiana State Police were acting on that warrant when they found Medina.
