A Natchitoches Parish grand jury on Friday returned a first degree murder indictment against Hanna Nichole Barker, mother of the 6-month-old boy who was set on fire in July.

The child, Levi Cole Ellerbe, was alive when found, but died of his injuries after being flown to then University Health Hospital in Shreveport.

On August 30, a Natchitoches Parish grand jury indicted Felicia Marie-Nicole Smith with first degree murder of the baby, while Barker was charged with criminal conspiracy and principal to 1st degree murder.

Allegedly, Barker asked Smith to kill her baby.

But the grand jury “pretermitted” the Barker’s case at the time, meaning it asked for more evidence and allowed the investigation to continue.

Friday’s indictment came as a result of that request.
