Two women who were allegedly caught on camera stealing over 80 pots of flowers now sit behind bars.

The theft happened on March 21 at different locations in downtown Natchitoches.

A City of Natchitoches employee contacted police and told them someone had taken more than 80 pots of flowers valued at over $1200.

Detectives with the Natchitoches Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division reviewed the surveillance video and saw two women females getting out of a gray Honda Pilot and placing the stolen flower pots inside the vehicle.

The suspects, Amanda Irvin (aka “Mandy”) and Brandi Smith, had been attempting to sell flowers to multiple people in the Natchitoches area.

On March 22 Smith was arrested after she came to the police department and confessed to taking the flowers with Irvin.

On March 24 Irvin was brought to the police department after being arrested for an unrelated theft at Wal-Mart.  Irvin was interviewed and confessed to taking the flowers with Smith.

Both Irving and Smith were booked into the Natchitoches Parish Detention Center for theft.  Their court date has been set for May 6.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with any information about this theft case should contact Det. Terry Johnson at (318) 357-3858 or NPD at (318) 352-8101.
