SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Video from a massive brawl in Shreveport on Mother’s Day is making waves on social media, as witnesses claim police homed in on the wrong group of people when they arrived on the scene.

Three people were taken into custody in connection with the incident, which happened in the 2500 block of Devaughn St., where police were called for a report of a fight just before 5 p.m. Sunday.

In the video, people can be heard shouting frantically that Shreveport police had the wrong home.

One witness who wished to remain anonymous said everything took a turn for the worse when a police officer grabbed someone who was not involved in the fight.

“She shooked her, ’cause the officer didn’t say she was an officer. She just grabbed her in the middle of a crowd and the lady shook her and she went flying in a ditch.”

The witness said the initial fight happened across the street from where police responded. “The dispute only had like three or four people in the yard, but the big crowd is where the officers went when they pulled up.”

Neighbors said the people were just trying to break up the initial fight.

At one point there were more than four dozen police units on the scene.

Shreveport police said they are aware of the video and the case is under investigation so they are not able to comment at this time.

Cpl. Marcus Hines said the department has to take their time to respond to make sure the information they provide to the public is accurate.

Investigators were spotted at the scene of the brawl on Thursday.
