The new superintendent for Pleasant Grove Independent School District says he’s looking forward to collaborating with the community.

March 26 is the first official day on the job for Chad Pirtle. The district’s board of trustees approved his employment last night.

Pirtle said he spent the day touring campuses to meet with students and teachers.

“What’s important to me is that we build strong relationships,” said Pirtle. “And relationships where we can move the district forward and build trust with each other.”

Pirtle replaces previous superintendent Jason Smith, who left the position to serve as president of Texarkana College.
