SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A new survey reveals the best and worst cities in America to start a career.
According to WalletHub, the best place to start a career is Salt Lake City, Utah. The worst? Shreveport, Louisiana.
The study looked at 29 key factors ranging from the availability of entry-level jobs to monthly salary, workforce diversity, and housing affordability. Employees are expected to hire nearly 17% more grads from the class of 2019 than from last year’s graduating class.
When asked for a comment on the ranking, the Shreveport Mayor’s Office says there is “room to grow,” but that the data can be misleading.
“Shreveport is a great place to live and raise a family, but we recognize that there is room to grow. Our administration is focused on growing the economy so that each successive generation has more opportunities than the last. The Mayor’s summer internship program is a prime example. It gives area young people opportunities that are intended to lead to an inspiring career path here in Shreveport.
It is worth noting that data sets like this can be misleading. For example, Shreveport is an affordable place to buy a home. This administration is committed to improving our community where it is needed. Where Shreveport is competitive, we are committed to advertising those advantages.”
