Northside Elementary becomes the latest Caddo Parish school to close due to flu and flu-like symptoms.
According to a statement released by the school district just before 3 p.m. Wednesday, the school will be closed Thursday after approximately 115 students were absent or sent home due to illness.
“We are continuing to encourage families to keep children at home that may be exhibiting any symptoms and for students to remain at home until they have been fever free for at least 24 hours,” said district spokeswoman Mary Nash-Wood. “As with other cases in our district, our maintenance team will spend tonight and tomorrow conducting a hospital-grade level of cleaning.”
Four other Caddo Parish schools have been closed for a day this week due to excessive illness. Arthur Circle Elementary, Northside Elementary, and Cherokee Park Elementary were closed Tuesday. Pine Grove Elementary was closed Wednesday.
Caddo Parish Schools’ custodial team spent Monday and Tuesday undergoing extensive hospital-grade sanitation efforts to combat the spread of germs at those schools. Now, Northside will get the disinfection treatment.
