O.J. Simpson in Shreveport

Local

One of the most polarizing men in America, O.J. Simpson, makes a stop in Shreveport.

NBC 6 News caught up with Simpson at Shreveport Regional Airport on Friday afternoon.

Simpson is making a stop in the Port City to visit family.

He says his mother went to the old Central High School in Shreveport. He says he spends a considerable amount of time in the ArkLaTex.

“Wedding anniversaries. Some birthdays. We’re just here celebrating and catching up. It’s been a while since I’ve been here,” said Simpson. “We’re going to play a little golf. People see me and they tell me, ‘Boy you look happy. You look positive.’ If my kids are happy, that means I’m happy.”

Simpson says he will come back to Shreveport in July for other family events.

He was released in October of last year from a Nevada correctional facility after serving nine-years of a 33-year prison sentence.
