The parents of an East Texas child who shot herself in the face last week have been arrested after being on the run.

On Monday, February 5, authorities responded to a home in the Mabank area after an 21-month-old shot themselves in the face. The child was flown to a Dallas hospital to be treated for injuries.

CPS has taken custody of the girl and two boys who were living at the residence.

According to Henderson County Sheriff Botie Hillhouse, the mother of the child and her boyfriend were tracked down Tuesday after officials say they left the county to avoid being arrested.

Bryanna Timms, 34, and David Whittick, 33, were caught in Hopkins County, near Sulphur Springs, late Tuesday night.

After Sheriff Hillhouse’s team received information in reference to their possible location, the pair was arrested by Hopkins County Sheriff’s Deputies.

\Warrants for their arrest were issued by 392nd District Judge McKee Tuesday morning, and they agreed they would surrender in the afternoon.

“Instead, they decided to run,” Hillhouse said. “So we tracked them down and they are in jail.”

The duo has been charged with endangerment of a child and making a firearm accessible to a child.
