On The Move With Nikki: Air Travel Woes

Local News

Have you ever been stuck at the airport for hours?  It can be especially miserable if you are traveling with a young child.

Recently, my family and I experienced this firsthand returning home from a trip to Orlando, Fla. Our flight back to Shreveport was delayed three times, due to bad weather. While our connecting flight was originally scheduled for 9:30 p.m. Sunday in Houston, after the multiple delays, we didn’t actually arrive to Houston until 2 a.m. Monday.

Even worse, there were no more available flights to Shreveport until 8:45 a.m. Monday.

As a result, my family and I spent the night in a freezing airport. My son was hungry but unable to eat anything because all of the restaurants and vendors were closed for the night. Eventually, he fell asleep on a table, my husband slept on the floor and I never went to sleep.

Horror stories like this one can be all too common. So, here are a few tips to keep in mind in case it happens to you.
