On The Move With Nikki: Centenary raises awareness of sexual assaults on college campuses

Local News

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — Centenary College is taking steps to raise awareness about the horrific act of sexual assault.

One in five college-aged women will be affected by sexual assault on campus this year.

All month long Centenary has been holding different events to highlight the problem of sexual assault.

Today at 4 p.m. there will be National Denim Day event at the Quad where teal flags were placed at the beginning of April.

The 1 in 5 Campaign, a candlelight vigil, and Teal Walk were events held earlier in the month.

Heather Boucher with Centenary College’s Department of Public Safety said self-awareness is the key to preventing sexual assault.

If you have been sexually assaulted Project Celebration is a non-profit organization that can offer help.  For more information visit  https://www.projectcelebration.com/
