Police have made an arrest the fatal shooting of a Marshall man late Monday night.

According to the Marshall Police Department, officers were called to investigate multiple reports of gunshots being fired in the 1200 block of Elsie St. around 11:35 p.m. Monday, with at least one possible victim.

Officers arrived to find a nurse performing CPR on a man at the scene and assisted with life-saving efforts until paramedics from the Marshall Fire Department arrived and took the victim to CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Medical Center by ambulance.

Police say the victim, identified as 22-year-old Tyshun Darty, could not be revived and passed away at the hospital.

An arrest warrant charging Irving with murder was issued and Irving was located and taken into custody Tuesday morning around 10 a.m. without incident. He was taken to the Harrison County Jail where he was booked in, charged with one count of murder.

In a statement released by MPD late Tuesday morning, the Marshall Police Department thanked the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office, the Waskom Police Department and the Waskom ISD Police department for their assistance with the ongoing investigation.
