Shreveport Police investigators have arrested a man in connection with an early morning shooting which claimed the life of a local man.

Markzaulous Lewis, 25, of Shreveport, was found dead just after 7:30 this morning when Shreveport Police were called to a residence located in the 3100 block of Catherine Street relative to a shooting.  Demarcus Bradley, 27, of Waskom, Texas, later was identified as a suspect.

As officers arrived at the home, they located the body of  Lewis inside the home suffering serious injuries after being shot.

Lewis was among several persons inside the residence when a suspect armed with a shotgun, entered the residence and shot Lewis.  The suspect fled the scene on foot  following the shooting.  No other persons inside the residence were injured.

While patrol officers remained on the scene of the crime, they made contact with a male subject in the 3100 block of Stonewall Street after a citizen reported a male subject was seen running into a backyard of a residence.

That male subject was identified as Bradley, who was detained and later transported to Shreveport Police headquarters.

Amid continuing investigation, patrol officers located a weapon in close proximity to the crime scene, which is believed to be that used in the shooting.

Investigators ultimately identified Bradley as the suspect in the shooting death of Lewis.

Bradley, following interviews with Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives, was transported to the Shreveport City Jail and charged with a single count of second degree murder, possession of schedule I, II and VI narcotics.
