Parish commissioners aid tornado victims

Local News

The Caddo Parish Commission is giving back to those in need.

“We’re doing something that we’re here for,” said Caddo Parish Commissioner Jerald Bowman. “That’s to serve people. Sometimes, it’s not when it’s convenient or when we have money in the budget, it’s when emergencies happen. When FEMA and other people can’t come through, the citizens can still be relieved because we fought.”

People in Queensborough and other neighborhoods in Shreveport are still trying to rebuild and repair after April storms knocked their community on their back.

Commisioners, led by Lyndon Johnson, approved a $250,000 stimulus package to those in need in those neighborhoods to get back on their feet in a special meeting on Thursday.

If you would like to receive some of those funds, you will need your home assessed.
