Perkins: Name used without permission in Kavanaugh letter

Local News

A Shreveport candidate for Mayor says he never put his name to an endorsement letter for Supreme Court candidate Brett Kavanaugh.

In late August, a letter with Adrian Perkins’ name, was included onto a letter of support on Kavanaugh’s nomination.

That letter was sent to the Chairman and ranking member of the Senate’s Judiciary Committee by members of Harvard University’s Black Law Students Association.

Perkins says he sent a separate letter letting the Senate’s Judiciary Committee that his name was used without his permission.

“I never authorized my name to be used on that document and asked could they redact  it or include my letter into the record” said Kavanaugh.

Perkins asked in the letter that his name be redacted from the Kavanaugh endorsement letter or that his letter be entered into the record as well.

Perkins is one of several candidates running to unseat incumbent Mayor Ollie Tyler in the November 6 election.
