Texarkana, Texas police along with law enforcement across the state are beefing up patrols for Spring Break.
The ‘Plan While You Can’ campaign aims to save lives by urging drivers to plan to have a sober ride. During last year’s Spring Break in Texas, officials say there were 410 crashes involving young motorists driving under the influence of alcohol. Those crashes killed 20 people and seriously injured 48 others.
TTPD Public Information Officer Shawn Vaughn said, “We see a spike this time of year with Spring Break with the younger folks that are out, as far as being involved in these accidents where somebody’s getting hurt.”
The increased enforcement runs through March 19th.
