Police identify 2 killed in East Texas crash

Two people who died following a major two-vehicle crash in East Texas over the weekend have been identified.

According to Kilgore Police Department, at 3:58 p.m., Sunday police were dispatched to the wreck on Highway 259 near FM 349.

An investigation determined a Nissan car was headed south when they drove into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and hit a 1999 Saturn.

The driver of the Saturn was flown to a Tyler hospital in critical condition. He later died. The victim has been identified as Dakota Patrick Harris.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to a Longview hospital where she died from her injuries. She has been identified as Mary Virginia Cameron, 79, of Overton.

The crash is still under investigation.
