The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations/Alexandria Field Office has arrested a police officer for having sex and distributing drugs while on duty.
Kenneth Seth Thomas, 42, of Deville, LA, was charged with malfeasance in office, distribution of a CDS I (controlled dangerous substance), and possession of a firearm in the presence of a CDS I (controlled dangerous substance).
In August 2017, LSP AFO received information regarding criminal activity involving Thomas. With the assistance of the Alexandria Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, LSP launched an investigation into these accusations.
The investigation revealed that Thomas had engaged in illegal activities by having sex with at least one
woman, while on-duty, and distributing illegal drugs.
Based on information obtained from the investigation, investigators were able to secure an arrest warrant for Thomas. He was arrested and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
“Today marks an unfortunate event for the Alexandria Police Department, however, a necessary one. We, as law enforcement officers, have a duty to seek justice and expose the truth, even when it hurts us,” said Chief Neal Bates, Chief of Police for Alexandria Police Department. “It hurts all of us when one of our own is accused of violating the trust that the public has in us, and we know we will have to strive harder than before to restore that trust. The officer has been placed on Administrative Leave, pending the investigation. Our department will not discuss this investigation, which is led by the Louisiana State Police, except that we will support their findings in the matter.”
The Louisiana State Police online reporting system is also available to the public through a convenient and secure reporting form that is submitted to the appropriate investigators.
