Police will be on the lookout this weekend for drunk drivers with a checkpoint

Local

The new year is right around the corner and in the midst of celebration, law enforcement are asking you to celebrate safely. The Shreveport police will conduct a safety checkpoint tonight. The check point will be set up in an undisclosed location in east Shreveport to find and remove drunk drivers, and to get people to obey the laws of driving. Shreveport police are partnering with Louisiana state police and the Caddo parish sheriff office for the safety checkpoint.
Bill Goodin SPD Deputy Chief of Police says, “the bottom line is that we are going to be out there making sure that we are going to be doing everything that can to make sure that the motorist are safe.”
Officers will be out this weekend as well to make sure no one is drinking and driving. Police do ask that if you do plan to drink this weekend, make sure you have a designated driver.
