Premiere Junior Golf tournament in Louisiana set to return to Southern Trace

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) — In just under four weeks one of the premiere junior golf tournaments in the south takes place at the premiere golf location in northwest louisiana.

The 2019 AJGA David Toms Foundation Junior All-Star Tournament will be held at Southern Trace Country Club the week of June 10th.

On Wednesday a press conference was held where many of the specifics of this years’ tournament were shared

Boys and girls, ages 12-15 take part. A full field of 100 golfers is set to participate.

The competition, now in it’s seventh year, bring out some of the best young golfers in the country.

Jayce Hargrove, the boys winner in 2018, committed to play golf at Texas Tech University shortly after winning the event.

Local golf standouts have played in recent years including Sam Burns, who is now on the PGA Tour, LSU standouts Philip Barbarree, Carter Toms, Nathan Jeansonne and Alden Wallace.  

In 2016, every member of the United State Ryder Cup team was an AJGA alumnus.
