President Donald Trump made his way to New Orleans Monday to speak at the American Farm Bureau’s convention.
Trump’s trip to the Big Easy comes as the partial government shutdown continues, now in its 23rd day.
The president delivered a speech Monday at the 100th annual convention of the American Farm Bureau.
U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy, of Louisiana, was at the convention, where he met with the president and fly back to the nation’s Capitol.
U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise and a contingency of Louisiana’s elected officials also joined the president Monday.
While Trump was greeted by supporters, his trip was also marked by protests, including one organized by the NAACP.
Protesters took issue with the president being in New Orleans while the shutdown continues.
