18-year-old William Austin Gray lost his life in a car crash in Hallsville, Texas around 8:00 pm, Wednesday.

Authorities say Gray was t boned by 51-year old, Micheal Brady of Shreveport who ran a red light at US Hwy 80 and Branch Street.

Both Gray and his passenger Kassi Ham were taken to hospitals in Longview.

Gray was pronounced dead at the hospital. We’re told ham suffers from serious injuries.

Gray’s classmates are raising money for the family to help with funeral costs.

A friend and teammate of Gray’s says it’s a difficult time for the community.

“He was always smiling and always up for a good time. His family needs all of the prayers they can get. Everybody needs prayers. This whole community needs prayers. That’s all that we need right now,” said Hunter Gauger.

Gray’s former coach was in shock when he heard the news.

“Just to see him wrap his senior year up and he worked to get to to that point and for everything to end that way was very heartbreaking,” said Andre Granger.

Donations for the family can be made at the popcorn shop and the BTH bank in Carthage.

Friends and family were supposed to meet at the Footprints in the Sand Monument at 7:00 pm to honor Gray.

It has been moved to the Carthage High School gym because of the weather.
