Officials said a local elementary school is initially cleared following a call reporting a possible bomb on campus.
Students at Redwater Elementary were evacuated to the First Baptist Church after officials said someone called the school’s office and said there was a bomb in the building.
Law enforcement officials checked the building and found no explosive device.
Parents waited in long lines to pick up their kids from the church all afternoon.
“We’re gonna err on the side of caution and ensure that every student and every staff member that we have is safe,” said Kelly Burns, Redwater Independent School District superintendent.
“I couldn’t get here fast enough just to get to him and get him somewhere safe,” said Sandra Hart, a grandparent of one of the students.
The incident is under investigation and the school will reopen for classes tomorrow.
