Dozens of residents gathered in Texarkana, Arkansas Tuesday to learn how to prepare for a possible active shooter situation.
The topic is the first in the police department’s new program, ‘Luncheon With The Law.’ The event allows officers to meet with citizens and business owners to discuss topics important to them.
The department offers active shooter assessments for local businesses and churches. TAPD Officer Kristi Bennett said, “This came about because we were getting overwhelming response from the active shooter situations that we’ve had recently about training, asking questions, how to be better prepared.”
The department plans to hold the luncheons every other month.
