A resolution asking Mayor Ollie Tyler to fire Police Chief Alan Crump and appoint a new chief, fails in a vote by Shreveport’s City Council.
The Resolution of No Confidence Vote in Chief Crump failed by a vote of 3 to 2 at Tuesday’s city council meeting.
On Friday City Councilman Willie Bradford filed a resolution expressing that Crump is unfit for his position and requested that Mayor Tyler appoint a new Chief of Police.
Councilman Jerry Bowman, Jr. had also sent a letter to Mayor Tyler asking that she relieve Crump of his duties.
Bowman’s request came after Crump’s decision to fire his gun at a teenager who was running away from a crime scene back in October.
Crump was placed on administrative leave after the incident but returned to work last week.
