A familiar sound of the holiday season is back in Texarkana.
Today the Salvation Army kicked off their annual Red Kettle Drive. Volunteers will be ringing in the season of giving by inviting shoppers to donate spare change to help neighbors in need.
Officials with the Salvation Army said all donations collected will stay in the local community to support residents through programs like the Angel Tree and Winter Assistance Fund.
“Any donation is used and will go to help change a person’s life,” said Major David Feeser, Salvation Army.
The Red Kettle Drive will take place until Christmas Eve outside stores throughout Texarkana. The group’s goal is to collect about $65,000 in the kettles.
