“Saturday Night Live” enters its 44th season this weekend, with Adam Driver hosting and Kanye West back as the musical guest.
Cast member Kenan Thompson says he’s always pumped for an “SNL” season opener.
“You can just feel the buzz, and everyone knows that they feel like they’re part of something special even before the show starts,” he says.
He sees it differently than he did for the opener in 2003, his very first show.
“Knowing what to expect as opposed to not knowing anything at all. There was real fear,” he recalls.
In the years since, Thompson has become the show’s longest serving cast member, and recently won his first Emmy for cowriting last year’s “Come Back, Barack” sketch.
