Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia made history this week.

SAU signed an agreement with a university in Cuba!  It’s a first for any university in Arkansas.  SAU President Trey Berry, Ph.D. said some students and faculty will be part of an exchange program.  The agreement is signified with a friendship mural.  A replica of the mural on SAU’s campus can also be found in Cuba, on the campus of the University of Artisma.  Berry said, “Academics there match our academics perfectly.  So it doesn’t just have to be spanish students that are studying at SAU.  It could be a gamut of students from business to education to agriculture to history, across the board … art.”

A delegation from Cuba departed Arkansas Friday after a week-long stay, which included the painting of the mural.
