Southern Arkansas University is purchasing an off campus apartment complex to match enrollment growth.
“Over the past five years. We’ve grown over 30 percent in enrollment,” said Trey Berry, SAU President.Berry says this apartment complex will house up to 80 students and cost more than 1.3 million dollars.
“Our board of trustees thought this was an absolute win win for the campus and we think it’s going to be great for Magnolia to have more students living on campus. Adding revenue to the economy,” said Berry.
This apartment complex is a block away from campus. Making it easily accessible to students.”Everything you need is real close, so like everything you need. You have it,” said Abby Bermudez, SAU Student.
Students and faculty are happy more students are choosing SAU.”Our population here is growing more students are enrolling. So it’s good to know more people are coming here,” said Bermudez.
“We want to keep the momentum going and so we know to do that we have to meet the needs of housing,” said Berry.SAU will close on the property this Friday. The fall semester starts August 23rd.
