A Natchitoches man wearing his seat belt avoided serious injury in a single-vehicle crash early today in Natchitoches Parish.

Marvin J. McCConathy, 60, was treated and released at the scene, according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Thjs morning at approximately 5:15am, Deputies assigned to the NPSO Patrol Division, Louisiana State Police and Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS responded to 911 reports of a single-vehicle crash with possible injuries on Louisiana Highway 1 south of Cypress, La.

According to Louisiana State Police, McConathy was driving a 2018 Toyota pickup truck southbound on LA 1 when McConathy apparently fell asleep. His truck then exited the roadway on the right side, striking a culvert. This caused the vehicle to go airborne, roll once and come to a rest upright.

LSP Troop E troopers say the use of seat belt significantly reduced the severity McConathy’s injuries in the crash.
