Second person faces charges related to Shreveport murder

SHREVEPORT, La. - A second person is facing charges in connection with a fatal shooting in Shreveport earlier this month.

On June 2 Shreveport Police launched an investigation into a shooting that left 24-year-old Savarea Stickman dead and a 17-year-old male injured.

During the initial investigation detectives gathered information that led them to believe that 23-year-old Jacory Robinson, from Greenwood and the 17- year-old arrived at an apartment complex in the 7200 block of Bernstein Ave. so that Robinson could sell a large amount of marijuana to an unknown individual.

Stickman allegedly began firing shots at Robinson and the passenger as the narcotics exchange was taking place resulting in the 17-year-old being shot.

Robinson returned fire and struck Stickman multiple times. Stickman died as a result of those injuries.

Robinson was located and charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Marijuana.

After further investigation detectives learned that 23-year-old Jamarcus Plater was allegedly with Stickman at the time of the robbery.

Plater reportedly arranged the narcotics purchase and was in the back seat of Robinson’s vehicle negotiating the narcotics transaction when Stickman opened fire on the vehicle.

Plater then took the Marijuana from Robinson and hid it in his vehicle and fled the scene on foot. That vehicle and the narcotics were located and recovered shortly after officers arrived at the shooting scene.

On Tuesday Plater surrendered to authorities at Shreveport Police Headquarters.

Following interviews Plater was charged with one count of Armed Robbery and booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
