A local library is hoping a dose of nostalgia will encourage neighbors to help their neighbors.
This is the fifth year the Sevier County Library has hosted the Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive, based on the children’s program’s model of lending a hand to those in need.
The library is collecting donations of new or gently used items to help keep folks warm this winter, including coats, hats and blankets.
“People are in need and we’re just wanting to help out as many people as we can,” said Johnye Fisher, head librarian for the Sevier County Library.
Fisher said they hope to surpass last year’s total of more than 350 donations collected.
All donations will support residents in Sevier County and can be dropped off until November 30.
