Sheriff Jones will retire in 2020

Local News

There is a new Sheriff in town.

“It’s not political,” said Sheriff Victor Jones, who’s retiring and not going for re-election. “I think it’s the right time and I’m leaving the office in a good way.”

Jones has been the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff for 19 years and will retire in June 2020. He says he wants to focus on family and give another person a chance to lead the parish.

“Hell, it’s a good thing,” Jones said. “I’m not running away from a problem. I’m not running away. The people of this parish have been so good to me and my family… it wasn’t easy to come to this conclusion.”

Jones says he will endorse Stuart Wright in the upcoming election in the fall.

Jones’ last day will be June 30, 2020.
