Shreveport man tries running over police officer, ends with arrest.

A Shreveport man is behind bars after attempting to run over a Shreveport Police Officer. 

Stephon Perkins, 20, is charged with attempted first degree murder and aggravated flight from an officer. Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, SPD attempted to pull Perkins over but he refused to stop. Officers chased him into Bossier City and the chase ended when he attempted to run over a Shreveport Police Officer who was standing next to his patrol vehicle. The office fired multiple shots towards Perkins who then crashed his vehicle into the officers patrol car. Perkins fled on foot but was caught by SPD and a K-9. The Shreveport officer was not injured. 

Perkins was taken to University Health for treatment for a gunshot wound to the elbow, and a dog bite. 

Breanna Dinkins, 19, a passenger in Perkins car was taken into custody for having a warrant out of Caddo Parish for theft. 

Perkins’ arrest with bond has been set at $450,000. 

Shreveport Police Chief Alan Crump  placed a Shreveport Police Officer on paid departmental leave following this officer involved shooting incident in Bossier City.
